About Therapy

How can I help

I aim to offer a private, confidential and non-judgemental setting in which you can explore the difficulties or distress that you are experiencing.  You can explore various aspects of your life and feelings, talking about them freely and in a way that is rarely possible with friends and family.  Feelings such as anger, anxiety, grief and embarrassment can become very intense and counselling can offer an opportunity to explore them, with the possibility of making them easier to understand.  Perhaps you’d like to understand your dissatisfaction with life, or to regain a sense of direction and purpose.  Your focus might be to resolve relationship difficulties at home or at work.  Clients often find that when they feel deeply understood and accepted, they tend to regain their emotional freedom.  Through the therapist’s support and gentle challenge they find a way forward.  Counselling is a way of enabling choice, facilitating change and reducing confusion.  It does not involve giving advice or prescribing a particular course of action.

The term Therapy is normally used to to encompass both Counselling and Psychotherapy and in most cases

psychotherapy would involve longer and more in depth work.
